Ingredients
- 500 g strong white flour
- 7 g instant yeast
- 25 g sugar
- 9 g salt
- 250 ml lukewarm milk
- 1 egg
- 40 g softened butter
- 1 beaten egg for glazing
- Sesame seeds, optional
Method
- Mix flour, yeast and sugar. Add milk, egg and salt and knead for 5 minutes.
- Knead in softened butter gradually, then knead 5–8 minutes more until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and leave until doubled, about 1–1½ hours.
- Divide into eight balls, shape tightly and place on a lined tray with room to rise. Cover for 45–60 minutes until puffy.
- Brush gently with beaten egg and add sesame if using. Bake at 180°C fan-forced for 18–22 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Cool on a rack before slicing.
